16th Annual Holly Hobbie Convention Oct 4th & 5th 2008 Picture below is from the 13th Annual Holly Hobbie Convention
It’s time to plan your trip to the 2008 Holly Hobbie Convention! This year’s convention is going to be a little different. It will be on Saturday and Sunday, October 4th & 5th. It will be held in Lexington, Kentucky at the Best Western Regency Inn. I have planned a lot of fun things for us to do. So don’t wait, make your reservation now to be part of the fun!
Best Western Regency Inn $79.00 + tax per night on Thursday – Saturday $59.00 + tax per night on Sunday – Wednesday
When you make your reservations be sure you tell them you are with the Holly Hobbie Convention to get these rates. Also be sure to get a confirmation number. These rates are a couple of dollars cheaper (according to the hotel) than what you would be paying if you used a discount card on the regular nightly rate. But if you have a discount care and want to use it, please feel free to do so. No discounts can be used with the Holly Hobbie rates. No additional fee has been added to the room rate to cover the cost of the convention room. I have blocked off several rooms for us but if you need a handicapped or first floor room, you need to make your reservation ASAP. Rooms are Double Queen Non-Smoking rooms. Check-In time is 3pm and check out time is 11am. Reservations must be made by September 15, 2008. You should make them now because October is horse racing month in Lexington and the hotel will be full. (859-293-2202). Also, I know some people prefer different hotel chains. So, if you prefer to stay at a different hotel that is also up to you. There are several other hotel chains next door and across the street. A few are Baymont Inn, Holiday Inn and Ramada.
The Best Western does not have airport shuttle service. You don’t have to pay a cab. If you will let me know what airline, flight number and when your flight arrives, I will have someone there to pick you up free of charge.
FOOD: The hotel has a free Continental Breakfast daily 6:30 – 9:30. There is not a restaurant in the hotel. There are several food places within walking distance: Cracker Barrel, Bob Evans, Arby’s, Wendy’s, McDonalds, Waffle House, etc. Reno’s Road House (Steak House) 1 mile, Max & Ermas (American Cuisine) 2 miles, Don Pablos (Mexican) 2 miles.
SHOPPING: Wal-Mart half a mile, Rite Aid 1 mile, Hamburg Pavilion (Kohl’s, Meijer, Target and other shops) 2 miles.
At this year’s convention, I am planning fun things to do as well as having time to talk. We will have an auction, games, discussion time as well as buying and selling time.
AUCTION: Bring any items that you would like to auction – mark it with your minimum bid price.
GAMES: Please bring a donated item wrapped to use as prizes for the games.
BUYING & SELLING: Bring any Holly Hobbie items to sell. I am going to advertise this in the paper and put signs in some stores.
SHOW & TELL: This year’s question is: What Holly Hobbie item that you don’t have that you most want to add to your collection? Bring any item or pictures that you would like to show & tell about.

The convention officially kicks off on Saturday evening; however I am planning an antique/flea market shopping trip on Friday and a shopping trip to the Outlet Mall on Saturday. Anyone wishing to come early and join us is welcome to do so. Just let me know and I will give you more details. There is a snack/drink counter in the convention room. So bring snacks and a drink if you want to. Coffee will be available. Please let me know how many tables you will need for the sale. The convention is for anyone. Bring a friend. Tell your Holly Hobbie collector friends. You may contact me at:

By the way, Roger, and I went to look at the hotel we had decided on to have the convention. When we got there, we found it unacceptable. On our way home we passed this exit with a number of hotels. We got off and started looking and decided on Best Western. It is nice, clean and has a friendly staff. We know you will enjoy your stay.
